Wow. I had to check twice. I unplugged and disconnected both my Stax headphone amp and Genesis subwoofer amps so the setup is simple: CD to InterFace to preamp to Rowland amp (which has input transformers). I swear the bass is back and this with stand mounted speakers!

There is a quality to the sound that reminds me of the Rowland preamp I had that also used input transformers. Overall, the sound is very clear and there is a noticeable lack of sibilance and high frequency grunge. I am absolutely hooked.

Designed specifically for high-performance, high-resolution home audio and/or home theater systems, the InterFace addresses the inherent weak link common to virtually all single-ended (RCA) interfaces; the tying together of the power and signal reference grounds of each component via the interconnect's ground lead/shield.

This weakness allows for interactions between the reference grounds of each component, resulting in noise-producing ground loop and interchassis currents which flow between components through the interconnect's ground lead/shield conductors and appear as noise voltages at the inputs of the amplifying components in a system (i.e. preamplifiers, power amplifiers, analog signal processors, etc.). These noises end up being amplified along with the signal voltages.

The InterFace very effectively addresses this problem by eliminating the common ground path between single-ended components so that each component references only its own local ground. The result? Each component is allowed to operate at its optimum, allowing you to hear what your system is truly capable of.

The InterFace offers other benefits as well. Despite it being a single-ended device, its common-mode noise rejection performance is actually far superior to that of active balanced interfaces under real-world conditions (100dB for the InterFace versus 30-50dB for typical active balanced interfaces). The InterFace allows you to retain the simplicity of the single-ended interface while giving you better common-mode performance than active balanced interfaces!
